“Rush’n Attack,” known in Europe as “Green Beret,” is a classic run and gun arcade game developed by Konami in 1985. The game sets players in the midst of a Cold War scenario where they control United States special operations forces—specifically Green Berets named Steve and Ben in the Japanese Famicom version—on a daring mission to infiltrate an enemy military base. Gameplay and Objectives: Players embark on a high-stakes rescue operation to save prisoners of war (POWs) from execution. The game is structured around four challenging stages, each located in a different part of the enemy base and culminating in intense confrontations with unique groups of ambushers: Marshalling Area: The first challenge ends with a confrontation against a truckload of jump-kicking enemies. Harbor: The second stage is guarded by a pack of aggressive German Shepherds. Air Base: In the third area, players face off against three menacing autogyros. Siberian Camp: The final stage is protected by three formidable flame thrower operators. Each stage is packed with a variety of Soviet Armed Forces including standard soldiers, gunners, supply runners, combat specialists, jetpack soldiers, parachute gunners, gyrocopters, and flame throwers. This diverse enemy lineup requires players to adapt their tactics frequently.
