Shatterhand is a side-scrolling action game developed by Natsume and published by Jaleco for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Released in North America in 1991 and in Europe in 1992, the game is set in the year 2030. The plot follows Steve Hermann, a police officer from the Bronx, who loses his arms during a clash with a renegade military group called Metal Command, led by General Gus Grover. After the incident, Hermann receives cybernetic arms from the Law and Order Regulatory Division (L.O.R.D.) and becomes an agent known as “Shatterhand.” His mission is to defeat Metal Command and stop their plan to conquer the world with an army of cyborg soldiers. In “Shatterhand,” players control the titular character, whose primary attack is using his fists, which can also block enemy bullets. The game features power-ups that can be obtained by destroying item containers. There are two types of power-ups: coins and letter icons. Coins serve as currency to purchase additional power-ups from special platforms. These platforms offer various benefits: restoring health (300 coins), increasing attack power (100 coins), and providing an extra life (2000 coins). The game combines traditional side-scrolling action with a unique power-up system, enhancing the player’s abilities and adding depth to the gameplay.
